About the event
The International Body Music Festival was founded in 2008 by Artistic Director Keith Terry (USA) , and is a project of Crosspulse, a non-profit arts organization dedicated to the performance, recording and education of cross-cultural rhythmic arts.
Since 2008, IBMF Full and MiniFests have been produced in the US, Brazil, Turkey, Indonesia, France, Canada, Italy, Greece and Ghana. In 2022 IBMF instigated the annual International Day of Body Music (always the first Sunday in February).
IBMF features contemporary and traditional Body Music connecting with local and international cultures through rhythm, voice, and movement, plus a series of collaborative projects -- presented in Concerts, Workshops, Open Mics...
This IBMF MiniFest of shorter duration will occur in the island of Ibiza (Spain) Featured artists include Keith Terry, Zikit: Belgian based company, formed by Ido Stadler (Israel) along his partner Sylvie Planche (Belgium) members of Mayumana as well as Rizumik (Portugal) member of Cirque du Soleil, Vocapeople... Merging their arts to present a unique experience that links the art of body percussion, movement and vocal improvisation.
On top of the day time workshops there will be musical experiences in the evenings - included in the festival and open to the public at an extra cost - the concert and open stage, an embodied sound journey and an ecstatic jam merging circle singing and body music, live instrumentation and electronic music.
Location
It will happen in the north of Ibiza; an island renowned for its vibrant joie-de-vivre.
The music and the dancing, the nature, the stars and the sun; of course its many traditions and transitions.
A place where bridging creativity and wellbeing is important to its inhabitants to connect with the essence of a fulfilled and balanced life; in which rhythm, movement body music and vocal improvisation play an important role.
This is where roots the birth of O Inni Garden, our home for the festival; which is a playground and sanctuary in nature - a space built with the intention to foster human connection through the creative arts in the outdoors.
We will also be visiting and playing music in different cultural places of the island and of
course, an early swim at the beach!
Our home for the festival is part of Can Quince - a small hotel and events venue, found in the heart of the Island - Balafia, San Lorenzo, a historic and cultural landmark, built between the ninth and twelfth centuries.
Can Quince has always been home to creatives, visionaries and lovers of life.
A space made for artists, by artists.
